Well my goodness you have a tough audience! But the Lord sees the heart and yours has blessed me! I was reading an old book several years ago where the author describes a young preacher who believed in "tithing his time", it went on to say that the young unknown preacher believed in spending at least ten percent of his day in prayer. At the time the young preacher was unknown, but now we all recognize the name of David Wilkerson. He is propbably instrumental in the salvation of hundreds of thousands of ex-drug addicts, ex-gang members and was our inspiration for what we do. Not bad for a guy who didn't understand "tithing". I say you are definitely on the right track. Be blessed! Can't go wrong when you "seek first His Kingdom".

I am sorry that you are being taught that you can come under the curse of the law.

This new covenant that we enjoy has no curses attached to it because it is not performance centered, it is Christ centered. He has to fulfill the covenant on our behalf and He guarantees it for us... since we are not able to perform it in our own weakness.

The old law had its curses because it was weak through the flesh...that is through human ability to perform.

"What must we do to work the works of God? Jesus answered, "this is the work of God that you believe in Him whom He has sent" John 5:25

Please allow me to refer you to a web site that teaches about tithing and what it really is.

It is not first fruits giving for that was the first handful of grain or whatever, not a tenth as you have been misled to believe.

I beg you to be free from the guilt driven view of Christianity and come and enjoy the freedom of knowing God.

Tithing is a doctrine that subtly coerces us to be man pleasers and not God pleasers.

Love
Brian

Friend,
You ideas all sound good but they are far from biblical.

Biblical tithes were always only FOOD fron INSIDE Israel and came from what God miraculously increased rather than from what man crafted with his own hands.

Therefore it is wrong to say that we should tithe things other than food from inside Israel. Christians have better principles of giving.

My web site has over 100 articles, a free downloadable book by a PHD and a free 2 hour video using DSL. May God bless you.

FIRSTFRUITS ARE NOT THE SAME AS TITHES
The first-fruit was a very small amount of the first crop harvest and the first-born was the first offspring of animals. The first-fruit was small enough to fit into a hand-held basket (Deut. 26:1-4, 10; Lev. 23:10-11, 17; Num. 18:13-17; 2 Chron 31:5a).
First-fruit and first-born offerings went directly to the Temple and were required to be totally consumed by ministering priests only inside the Temple (Neh. 10:35-37a; Ex. 23:19; 34:26; Deut. 18:4).
The whole Levitical tithe went first to the Levitical cities and portions went to the Temple to feed both Levites and priests who were ministering there in rotation (Neh. 10:37b-39; 12:27-29, 44-47; Num. 18:21-28; 2 Chron 31:5b). While the Levites ate the tithe, the priests could also eat from the first fruit, first born offerings and other offerings.
